I oppose Arctic drilling because:
Because wolves literally changed my life. I saw the alpha and a yearling of
East Forks pack on a family trip to Denali one fine summer, and my life was
forever changed. Note the nickname... Canis lupus is the scientific name of
the gray wolf, and so my nickname has become Canis Lupis, to reflect my fight
to save the wolves. I, and others like me, fight against a social bias to save
these noble, family-oriented creatures. Though they are Endangered Species, a
convenient loophole in Section 9 of the Endangered Species Act allows them to
be slaughtered. I do what I can to protect the Arctic in all it's majesty, and
I encourage the rest of you to do the same.
Here's a wolfy thought: Since the deer population is getting to be such a
problem in the lower 48, and the Endangered Species Act "urges" and
"encourages" state and local governments to protect and increase the
populations of species listed as Endangered and Threatened, then why not
comply with the ESA and bring back the wolves to control the deer population?
Restore some natural balance, because "weekend warriors" with guns and wearing
orange obviously aren't cutting it, and they pose a risk to themselves and
others who choose to enjoy the forest, such as hikers and picnicers who may not
be wearing orange...

Something else I wrote, in regard to being Furry:
Furries are people who feel a special spiritual or emotional bond with a certain
animal species, or even a specific animal, their Personal Furry. Their Personal
Furry may be a regular animal, an anthromorph, a mythical creature, or a
combination. A Personal Furry is like a special friend or a guide, like a spirit
totem guide. A Furry may also have a Fursona, instead of or along with their
Personal Furry. A Fursona refers to someone's Furry personality, their mental
Furry form. I am proud to be a Furry, and my Personal Furry species is Canis
lupus occidentalis, the Alaskan gray wolf. Wolves are loyal, social, and
family-oriented creatures who place the pack's needs above their own. Each pack
works together and forms a close-knit unit. My Fursona is one of a kindly gray
wolf anthromorph, who strives to bring help and happiness to everyone he meets.
Basically, my Fursona encompasses all the best aspects of me in a single package
that cannot be touched by the taint of sorrow.
